| The
lovely Gower Peninsula is quite unique as it benefits from the warm waters
of the Gulf Stream and has numerous superb beaches. Being
on the Bristol Channel it also enjoys substantial tides and is noted for
its surfing.
The coastline is rocky with lots of small sandy bays and some long beaches such as Pendine Sands where car speed trials were once conducted. The small villages are very picturesque with numerous thatched cottages, small pubs and some wonderful seaside locations. Mumbles with its pier, lighthouse and Oystermouth Castle is a famous and long established holiday town. |
